Jonathan Shocked By Isaiah Balat's Death, Condoles Family

President Goodluck Jonathan has mourned the death of former minister for works and senator Isaiah Balat who passed away today.
This has been made known by the presidential spokesperson Reuben Abati in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Isaiah Balat aged 62 died in on Tuesday at about 1pm at the National Hospital in Abuja after suffering from an undisclosed ailment.
Balat was the the Senior special adviser on special duties to Vice President Namadi Sambo. He was said to be a close aide of President Jonathan.
"On behalf of himself and the Federal Government, President extends sincere condolences to the Vice President, his staff and all others who had the pleasure of working with Senator Balat at the Presidential Villa," reads the statement in parts.
The president said Balat would be remembered for serving meritoriously as a senator and minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
"The President prays that God Almighty will receive the soul of Senator Balat whom he had the pleasure of working with at close quarters in the Presidential Villa over the past three years and grant him eternal rest," adds the statement. 
The late Balat was a former minister of state for works during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration and a senator  from 2003 and 2007.
